Test Security Statement

An assessment is only useful if the people who take it have not seen it first. This statement sets out how Northwest Psychometric protects MICAA content, and what we ask of everyone who uses it.

Why test security matters

MICAA-A depends on informants answering questions they have not seen before and have not been coached on. If items, scoring rules or validity checks are made public, scores stop meaning what the norms say they mean, and the instrument’s ability to detect careless or misleading responding is weakened. Protecting test content protects the young people who are assessed with it.

Copyright and ownership

The MICAA-A questionnaires, items, scales, scoring procedures, norms, interpretive materials, report templates and the clinical manual are the copyrighted property of Northwest Psychometric. They are licensed to qualified users through Schoolhouse Educational Services for clinical use only. No part of the instrument may be reproduced, translated, adapted, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any form without written permission from Northwest Psychometric.

What we publish, and what we do not

No actual MICAA-A item appears on this website, in our mailings or in our presentations. Where this site illustrates item-level review, the statements shown are written for the website and are not test items. The sample report on this site is based on a real assessment with identifying details changed and item wording replaced.

The clinical manual, the complete item list it contains, sample reports and interpretive materials are available only to qualified professionals through Schoolhouse. They are not posted openly.

Who may use MICAA-A

MICAA-A is a qualification level B instrument, sold to professionals with training in psychological assessment and administered in a professional context in which a qualified clinician is available to interpret responses, follow up on risk indicators and respond to distress. It is not offered to the public, to parents or to young people directly, and it is not a self-administered screener.

Teachers, parents and young people complete questionnaires as informants at a clinician’s request. They receive the questions and nothing else: no scoring keys, no norms, no other informant’s responses and no results except as the clinician chooses to share them.

What we ask of licensed users

  • Keep questionnaires, manuals and platform sign-in details secure, and do not share account credentials.
  • Do not copy, photograph, screenshot, post or otherwise distribute test items, scoring keys, norm tables or report templates, including in training materials, court filings or publications, beyond what your professional role requires.
  • Do not administer MICAA-A outside a clinical assessment, and do not give questionnaires to anyone to complete for curiosity, practice or research without a research agreement with Northwest Psychometric.
  • Do not coach informants on how to answer, and do not review items with an informant in advance.
  • Report results to clients and third parties in interpretive form, following your profession’s standards for releasing test data.
  • Return or destroy licensed materials when your license ends.

Research and legal requests

Researchers who wish to use MICAA-A, reproduce items in a publication, or translate or adapt the instrument should write to us before beginning; we will consider each request and, where appropriate, provide a research license. Where a court or other legal process requests test materials, we ask that the request be directed to Northwest Psychometric so that we can seek a protective order that keeps items out of the public record while the court’s needs are met.

If you find MICAA content online

If you come across MICAA-A items, scoring materials or reports posted publicly, please tell us at support@nwpsychometric.com. We follow up on every report and, where needed, request removal from the host.
