Our Mission

To use the latest advances in psychometrics and mental health to develop psychological tests that facilitate the progress of the mental health field.

WHAT WE DO

We apply contemporary psychometric methods to develop practical assessment tools that support informed decision-making in everyday clinical and educational settings.

OUR STORY

Northwest Psychometric was founded in 2024 to develop psychological tests that can improve mental health assessment by incorporating scientific advancements in psychological measurement.

The company was founded by Dr. Robert Basham, a clinical psychologist with decades of experience in clinical and forensic assessment. Through his research and professional practice, he became aware of the shortcomings in commonly used assessment tools and recognized the need for measures that better reflect contemporary clinical settings and everyday functioning.

Our flagship instrument, MIASA (Multi-Informant Assessment System for Adolescents), brings together youth, parent, and teacher perspectives to provide a comprehensive, research-backed view of adolescent functioning.

MEET OUR TEAM

Dr. Robert Basham, Founder & Clinical Director

Robert is a former clinical psychologist with extensive experience in child welfare, specializing in psychological evaluations of children, adolescents, and parents. MIASA builds on his earlier work developing the Adolescent Behavior Questionnaire (ABQ) in the early 1990s, expanding its scope to address important areas of behavior not captured by existing assessments. He has led the development of MIASA since its inception in 2022 and founded Northwest Psychometric in 2024.

Katharine St. Jules, Lead Test Developer

Katharine is a licensed occupational therapist with extensive experience in psychology research. She began working at Northwest Psychometric in 2021 when it was still a research institute and played a key role in the research that resulted in the development of the MIASA. She has recently been focused on developing the MICAS (Multi-Informant Children’s Assessment System), a comprehensive mental health assessment for children.

Harry Borgerhoff, Director of Marketing & Customer Support

Harry brings a creative eye and a thoughtful approach to visual design to the company. With a background in nonprofit support and customer service, she enjoys helping clinicians, parents, and young people feel comfortable and confident using mental health assessment tools. She cares deeply about making these resources approachable and easy to navigate, and about connecting them with the people who can benefit most. Outside of her work, she is a committed advocate for animal welfare.

WHY WE’RE DIFFERENT

We're not just digitizing old tests—we're rethinking what clinical assessment should look like in the 21st century. Our tools are dynamic, inclusive, data-informed, and human-centered.

We believe psychological assessment should evolve as our understanding of human behavior and culture does.
